The official iOS App is out!

Find a detailed information on my blog: Xiaomi Yi Review & Manual.

If you want to use this app – WeTrip Lite – here’s how it works:

The app is called “WeTrip Lite” and you can download it from the AppStore:

https://itunes.apple.com/ch/app/wetrip-lite/id909569446?mt=8

Get started:

First you have to switch on the Xiaomi Yi camera and press the wifi button on the side of the camera. Search for the camera’s Wi-Fi on your iPhone and connect it.

The standard password is set to 1234567890.

Open the App and search for your Xiaomi camera. You’ll see the live footage but be aware, it doesn’t work all the time! If you hit the photo trigger button, the live footage pops up.

You can select between photo and video mode and start recording (taking photos) from your phone. The app often shows “Photography Failed” but pictures are taken. It’s not very accurate so I wouldn’t recommend using this feature.

Next to the photo trigger button there is a white square. That’s the button to go to your photo album. It shows loading for a long time as your photos are loaded onto your iPhone. They are the same resolution on your phone as on the microSD card, but the file size on the iPhone is smaller.

Let’s take a look at the available settings. Unfortunately there are not all features available compared to the Android App.

  • Wi-Fi settings – here you can select your own password

Video Resolutions and Frame Rates:

when you click on it you’ll see the resolutions but not the available frame rates, but they are different for every option! Here is the List of all frame rates in order as they can be selected in the app:

  • 1920×1080 – 60fps
  • 1920×1080 – 30fps
  • 1920×1080 – 48fps
  • 1920×1080 – 24fps
  • 1280×960 – 60fps
  • 1280×960 – 48fps
  • 1280×720 – 60fps
  • 1280×720 – 48fps
  • 1280×720 – 120fps
  • 848×480 – 240fps

You can’t switch to PAL in the app, so 25fps (50fps, 100fps) are not available. In 1080p you have all other options whereas in 720p 30fps is not available.
Caution: the order is not highest to lowest!
Selecting another option doesn’t always work on your first try!

Other settings:

  • video watermark –  a time and/or date stamp
  • video quality – super fine, fine, normal
  • photo resolution – select based on megapixels
  • photo watermark – a time and/or date stamp
  • photo quality –  super fine, fine, normal
  • formatting your microSD card
  • Restore to factory settings

It’s not the best working app, but was great until the official App was released.
