This is a tutorial on how to update the firmware on your Xiaomi Yi camera using an Android phone.
I also did tutorials for:
Firmware update with you computer
The App will inform you about available new firmware updates (see title pic). You will get the notice when you connect your phone with your Xiaomi Yi camera.
You can also check for new firmware versions when going to the settings while your cam is not connected. Select the 3 dots (next to My profile) in the top menu and click “Check FirmWare Update”.
Press ok to download the firmware on your phone. The great thing about Android compared to the iOS App is, that the phone switches wifi automatically.
When connecting your phone and your camera again, the app informs about the new firmware and asks if you want to “DownLoad” – well that is more likely the button to install the firmware.
You will see the information and changelog for the new firmware version (in this case Firmware 1.2.6). When selecting “Upload Firmware” it well be transferred to your camera.
As described in the notice, the camera will start beeping when updating the firmware. It will shut down automatically when the upgrade is completed. Don’t turn off the camera manually! (It takes about a minute)
When you turn on your camera afterwards, check the camera settings, you’ll see the current firmware version of the camera.
