YI Erida Drone Infos
There were some rumors about a drone – I wrote about it. After the launch of YI Action Camera there was a lot of confusion about the name as Xiaomi YI was the common description online. As the article shows some sketches leaked and a few month ago Xiaomi launched a drone. It looked similar to the sketches so the announcement today came to my surprise.
According to the first infos YI Erida Drone is made of carbon fiber, which is not only a super strong material, but also extremely lightweight. Therefore a longer flight time can be achieved. YI says the tricopter can reach speeds of up to 75 mph (120 kph) and stay in the air for up to 40 minutes. On it’s belly you can find an electronic gimbal to stabilize a YI 4K Action Camera. The drone will be controlled with a mobile app, so you’ll just need your smartphone and the drone when you head out to fly.
Another nice feature as it seems two of its three rotor arms fold back for travel:
There are no infos on the price out yet, but YI will release infos and specs on their Facebook Site all week.
YI Technologies is working with Atlas Dynamics, who developed Erida with a crowdfunding campaign. The campaign has closed without sufficient funding month ago, but that was the published data: Weight of Erida is 0.9 kg and it has an expected flight time of 35 min. Let’s wait and see how this version turns out after they joined forces.
