This blog is about action cameras, so why do I write about Scooter?
First: I always wanted something like this: A Segway with a Steadicam. I always thought that’s a great combination as you can move faster and smoother than running. Now with the Xiaomi Scooter you’ve got a cheaper alternative. Add the Xiaomi Yi camera and a gimbal and you are good to go.
Secondly the fact that it is from Xiaomi. I was positivly surprised by the production quality of all my Xiaomi products. So I think the Scooter will be a great product and I’m really looking forward to it.
And thirdly the looks of the Xiaomi Scooter. Most other low priced models seem to be nice gadgets for flat streets. But the Xiaomi Yi Scooter looks like it can also handle uneven terrain.
So let’s take a closer look at the data of the Xiaomi Scooter:
It offers 2 built-in engines (power rate of each engine is 350W) which allows 16km/h average speed and 22km driving distance. It is equipped with a “18650 lithium battery pack”. I’m not quite sure what is meant: 18650 mAh? lithium-ion or lithium-polymer? The charging time is 4 hours.
What about the looks. As I said I really like the design as it doesn’t seem like a cheap gadget, but a very versatile product. It offers great LED lighting: Driving lamp, tail light, steering lamp and brake lamp – not only for safer driving, they are also great decorations. You can even change the light color as you wish.
On more great feature: You can control the Scooter by your mobile phone! Connect with mobile phone through Bluetooth and it will become a “remote control scooter”. With the app “Ninebot” your smartphone will be burglar alarm and instrument panel. You can also diagnose the vehicle condition and do individual settings.
The Xiaomi Scooter weights 12,8kg which should be ok for carrying it over stairs. Well, you will be driving most of the time anyway. You should weight less than 85kg btw.
Looks cool, but what’s the price?
