SJ5000+ - Overview
Camera Review, SJCAM  /   /  By el Producente

The SJ5000+ currently marks the model with the largest sensor from SJCAM. In this article I want to highlight the specs of this camera and compare them with the other model’s in SJCAM’s lineup as well as some competitors.

SJ5000+

SJ5000+ Specs

Image Sensor:
The SJ5000+ comes with a 16MP Panasonic MN34120PA Sensor,
It’s currently the largest sensor camera in SJCAM’s product range. The SJ5000 features a 14MP sensor, also by Panasonic.
The SJ4000 features 3MP Aptina sensor and the newer SJ4000+ a 4MP OmniVison sensor.

Chipset:
An Ambarella A7LS chip is used which is the same as in the Xiaomi Yi,
The SJ4000, SJ4000+ & SJ5000 use a Novatek chip.

Lens:
The SJ5000+ features a 7G 170° lens with f2,8 aperture.

Video Resolution:

  • 1080p – max. 60fps
  • 720p – max. 120fps
  • 480p – max. 240fps

Interestingly the newer SJ4000+ also offers 2K resolution (as well as the Xiaomi Yi) but it is not available with the SJ5000+.

Recording Format:
The videos are recorded in .mp4 files with .h264 codec.

Photo Resolution & Format:
max. 16MP (4608 x 3456px); .jpg

Display:
The SJ5000+ offer a 1,5″ TFT display with 960×240 dots resolution.
Note that the SJ5000 offers a 2″ screen.

Battery:
The SJ5000+ uses the same battery as the other models by SJCAM with a capacity of 900 mAh, which is quite low compared to the Xiaomi Yi (1040 mAh) and the GoPro Hero 4 (1160 mAh), considering the power consumption for the display.

Storage:
A microsSD card is used and up to 32GB are supported.

Connectivity & Ports:
The camera offers wifi for wireless remote via app (iOS or Android), a USB 2.0 port for charging and A/V output and a HDMI port for HD video output.

Dimension & Weight:
59 x 41 x 30 mm
So it is the same size as the other SJCAM models.

Accessories included:
As for all SJCAM models they come with a huge accessory pack including: several base plates, bike mount, underwater case, clips, helmet mount and many more; basically all you need for an action camera.
