Samsung updated their Gear 360° camera, the difference in naming is the added year, so the new camera is called Samsung Gear 360 (2017). Compared to the previous model the new one has a hand grip included. Max. resolution was increased as the new camera offers 4096 x 2048, 4K resolution at 24 fps.

Sensor:
Samsung Gear 360 (2017) is equipped with two lenses and two 8.4 MP sensors (currently don’t know which brand).
The 2016 model featured two 15 MP sensors, guess the new cam is more optimized for video and the 2016 model was for photos.

Chip:
The 2017 camera features a DRIMe5s chip, comparable with the 2016 model.

Video Resolution & Frame Rate:
Gear 360 (2017) offers a max. resolution of 4096 x 2048 but only at 24fps.
In contrast Gear 360 (2016) shoots 3840 x 1920 at 30fps. I’m nur sure it the 2017 model offers the same settings, I only found the info on a 2560 x 1280 / 30fps selection. Ratio for 360° videos is 2:1,

Video Format:
videos are recorded in .mp4 format and .h265 codec.

Photo:
In Single cam mode (one lens) the camera takes 3MP (2304 x 1296) images; in Dual Cam mode up to 15 MP (5472 x 2736) images; .jpg format.
Compared to the previous model the resolution is now smaller! (single mode: 3072 x 1728 (5MP); dual mode: 7776 x 3888 (30MP))

Lens:
Samsung Gear 360 (2017) is equipped with 2 f2.0 lenses, similar to the older model.

Display:
The camera holds a 0.5″ display on the grip to check the settings.

Battery:
2017 model features a 1160 mAh battery, whereas the 2016 model held a 1350 mAh battery.

Storage:
microSD cards up to 256GB are supported.

additionally Bluetooth v4.1 but not NFC compared to the 2016 model.
