Nikon KeyMission 360
Nikon announced its entry into the action camera market with the development of a lineup of action cameras. The first in this lineup is the Nikon KeyMission 360, a wearable action camera capable of recording true 360° video in 4K UHD.
Sensor & Chip:
Nikon KeyMission 360 consists of 2 lenses, and therefore 2 sensors. Currently I’m not sure which sensors (MP & brand) will be used nor which chip will be used for image processing.
Video Resolution & Frame Rate:
Each lens & sensor is capable of recording a 4K video with max. 30fps I guess. In comparison Samsung Gear 360 is recording two 2K videos.
It seems that there is no display on the Nikon KeyMission to check the settings.
Also no info currently on battery and capacity. As the camera is waterproof, could be that the battery is built in.
Also no info currently on how the recordings are stored. As the camera is recording two 4K videos we might se a SDcard used instead of the common microSD cards used in action cameras.
Connectivity & Ports:
Nikon Keymission 360 features wifi, bluetooth and NFC!
Currently no info on ports (USB, HDMI,…)
A few special features were announced:
- Camera is 30m waterproof without case
- 2m shockproof without case
- is resistant to dust and low temperatures
- and there’s also an electronic Vibration Reduction that helps to reduce camera shake.
Retailer / Prices:
Currently no info, some retailers listed the camera without price. I’ve seen two different sites showing a price: one was 499 USD the other 1399 USD, so still unsure about a possible price range.
Here’s a sample video of the KeyMission in 360°; make sure to watch it on your smartphone within the YouTube App and turn around your phone!
