MicroSD Card Comparison

I was looking for new cards for my action cameras, so I did this microSD card comparison, to check read and write speed as well as price.
I thought it is interesting as some cards have a very high reading speed, but a way lower writing speed (compare Samsung Evo and Evo+).

Reading Speed is important when transferring the footage to your computer (in order how long it takes). Playing from the card should be fine.
Writing Speed is important how fast the card can handle recording. If this speed is too low, your camera might stop working, when that card can’t handle high resolutions or frame rates!

Here’s my overview list (for price comparison all cards are 32 GB version – from amazon.com and amazon.de)
Black Data is according to manufacturer (n/s – manufacturer didn’t state a value)
Green Data is according to my measurement. (will follow once I received them)

I got myself: SanDisk Ultra 32 & 64 GB, SanDisk Extreme Plus 64 GB, Lexar 633x 32GB, Transcend Ultimate 633x 32GB, Kingston 32GB. So far I haven’t experienced any problems with one of these cards, a speed test will follow.

Conclusion

Sometimes it is interesting to do a microSD card comparison in terms of price and speed. Comparing e.g. Transcend 300x and 400x, just the reading speed was increased, so if you don’t care about transfer time to your computer, you might be better off with the 300x as it is way cheaper.

Stay tuned my test will follow!
